Remote Stories Around the World Completed · 2020
A pandemic photography project that proved connection has no borders, and became a book
In 2020, the world stopped travelling. Joanne didn't (well, sort of).
Using the same remote photography techniques she now uses with clients every day, she worked with people in countries around the world to capture authentic, deeply personal images of their lives and stories, all without leaving the UK.
The project was part creative experiment, part proof of concept, and the images that came back from living rooms and participants favourite outdoor locations across the globe proved that remote photography, done properly, loses nothing.
Supporting Local / Independent Business Project Completed · Summer 2020
Free mini photoshoots to help small businesses stay visible when they needed it most.
When the pandemic turned the high street upside down, local independent businesses faced an impossible challenge; stay visible, stay connected, and survive. This project was a simple, meaningful response: professional photography, completely free, for businesses that needed it most.
10 local independent businesses supported with professional photography
Provided completely free of charge throughout the project
Helped businesses maintain a credible, visible online presence during lockdown
Held in-person, either outdoors or at a distance due to limitations at the time
Overwhelmingly positive feedback from every participant

In 2020, the world stopped travelling. I didn’t.
Remote Stories Around the World was born during the pandemic, a photography project that took me across the globe without ever leaving the UK. Using the same remote photography techniques I now use with my clients every day, I worked with people in countries around the world to capture authentic, beautiful, deeply personal images of their lives, their spaces, and their stories.
It was part creative experiment, part proof of concept, and part reminder, at a time when the world felt very small and very closed, that human connection doesn’t require physical proximity. That a camera and a conversation can cross any distance. That the world was still out there, still full of light and life, people and places worth photographing, even when we couldn’t reach it in the usual ways.
The images in this collection were all photographed remotely, all entirely real, all captured with the same care and attention I bring to every session.
Remote Stories isn’t just a portfolio. It’s the project that proved that remote photography, done properly, loses nothing. And it’s the reason I’ve never looked back.

This is a volunteer run family event, with live music, rides, food, stalls, and much more. This is the 10th anniversary and from what I hear, they will be pulling out all stops with fun events on the day. Come and have fun, and don't forget to pop by my stall and say hello.
