Most people who come to me have spent years dodging the camera at work events or family gatherings, cropping themselves out of team photos, or letting someone else's stock image stand in for their face. That's not a lack of self confidence, it's a completely normal response to feeling exposed. My job isn't to make you look like a different, more polished version of yourself. It's to get you comfortable enough that the photos and the words actually match who you are when you're not masking or performing for anyone. What surprises people is that the photography and the coaching aren't two separate services. They're the same problem solved from two angles. You can't fix one and leave the other sticking out like a sore thumb.
I've loved photography since the age of 4. My first camera was a Fisher Price toy camera, then polaroid, point and shoot, disposable cameras, the joys of darkroom photography, embracing digital cameras and now remote or virtual photoshoots. The path from there to here took a few unexpected turns (thanks to the pandemic and a re-brand) but that is what makes me different from others photographers or coaches.
Over the years I've worked across many industries, all focusing on high levels of customer service. This included teaching, travel/air transport, graphic design, publishing, churches, charities, veterinary, and medical settings. I trained as a teacher after leaving secondary school, then went back to university as an adult to earn a degree in Visual Communications, because the love of learning never really left. I also held an SQP certification earned while working inside veterinary practices, giving me a working knowledge of that world that most people in my industry simply don't have.
This experience is the foundation of what I bring to Joanne Moorhouse Creative everyday. I understand the industries I work in because I've worked in them myself, not just second-hand knowledge. When a new Author, busy Director, Practice Manager, or overwhelmed Entrepreneur comes to me, they don't have to spend half the session explaining their world, because chances are I have some experience in it.

Why I do things differently
As a neurodivergent entrepreneur myself who juggles a busy schedule, I know what it feels like to need support that feels like it doesn’t quite exist yet. To look at the options available and think none of these were designed with ME in mind.
That experience is built into everything I do. Remote photography sessions (while they began because of the pandemic) came into their own out of understanding that not everyone is comfortable with a stranger in their space, or a camera pointed at them in an unfamiliar environment. Asynchroneous coaching came out of knowing that the people who need support most are often the ones least able to sit in front of a video call for an hour or more without feeling restless, or carve an hour out of a rigid weekly schedule.
Flexible, personal, and genuinely hassle-free isn't just a goal. It's the whole point of what I offer my clients.
Every session, every coaching response, every interaction is designed to meet you where you are. Not what is convenient for me.

I love meeting people, hearing their stories, and finding ways to help them show the world who they really are, through images, through conversation, or both.
When I’m not working, you’ll almost certainly find me somewhere outdoors with my camera, exploring the quieter locations of the North Yorkshire countryside and seeing what I find. Alternatively, I might be sitting in a favourite café or visiting a local farm shop and seeing what local treats can be found. I've grown up loving music, so when times get a bit overwhelming, I'll pop on my favourite tunes and hum along while I work. And, when on my adventures, you can be sure if animals are around, I won't be far away.
I care deeply about the causes closest to my heart, particularly animal rescue and mental health, and I try to put that care into action when possible by volunteering or donating my services to worthy causes. I also will often donate a percentage of my earnings to support a local cause from time-to-time when able.

If these sound familiar, then let's have a conversation
You've avoided updating your photos for longer than you'd like to admit.
You're neurodivergent, or you simply find performing on demand draining rather than energising.
You run a business, are part of a team or manage a company, and are brilliant at what you do but often feel invisible online.
You want growing your brand to feel easy, not another task you're dreading.
You know you need to be more visible, but you just don't think you have the time to have a professional photoshoot and/or be more visible online. (psst... this is why remote photoshoots are a game changer!)
No pressure, no hard sell.
Just an honest conversation about how we can help.
